Choosing the Right Products for Your Retail Booth 🛍️

Here’s common questions I see:

❓My products aren’t selling, what am I doing wrong?

❓How do I decide what products to sell?

❓What is everyone else carrying that actually sells?

📌 Why It’s Critical: Selecting the right products is essential to draw in customers and make sales! Offering items that appeal to your ideal customer will boost booth traffic and help you stand out.

🔍 Questions to Ask Yourself:

➡️ Who is my target customer? Think about the main audience at this location. Are they tourists, locals, or gift shoppers? One of the most common problems I see by ALL entrepreneurs (online, in retail, everywhere) is making assumptions about they audience they think they want and missing clues about the audience they actually HAVE. Those can be two very different things, and in a setting like an art & craft fair or when you have a vendor booth as part of another location or facility, you need to be working with the audience that is actually showing up.

➡️ What types of products are they likely to buy? Consider if they’re looking for home decor, small gifts, souvenirs, or seasonal items.

➡️ Are my products unique? Make sure your items offer something special or different from what other vendors are selling.

➡️ Are my product prices accessible for this market? Choose items that fall within the price range you’ve observed works well with the target customers in this area.

💡 Do Basic Research

Finding the right products means understanding both the audience and what’s selling. Here are some ways to research effectively:

  • 🛒 Observe Other Booths: Check out similar booths to see which types of products and price points are working well. Note which items catch customers’ attention and if certain price ranges are popular.
  • 👀 Watch Customer Behavior: Take note of what shoppers are picking up, admiring, or purchasing. If you notice customers gravitating toward specific price ranges, use that information to guide your choices.
  • 🌟 Research Local Trends: Think about upcoming events, seasons, or holidays that might influence what customers want. Seasonal or trendy items, priced right for the occasion, can attract more buyers!

These tips will help you curate a booth that catches attention, resonates with your target customer, and is priced appropriately for the market, making shopping easy and enjoyable!
