Entrepreneur Question:
I have a podcast currently hosted on YouTube. I'm looking to expand and grow the audience, and get to a place of monetizing. I don't have a lot of experience with monetizing podcasts, but I personally very rarely see them being hosted on YouTube.
Would it be more beneficial to switch to a different platform? Feel free to treat me like I'm stupid here, because I'm working from ground zero on learning this. Thanks for any advice!Jenni
Expert Answer:
First … what is their end goal? Simply getting more audience? Or something bigger?
Vicky
They're ultimately looking to hit 1,000 subscribers to get their message out, but they'd love to find ways to monetize it.
Jenni
How do they want to monetize? Ads? Drive traffic to website where people with purchase? Other?
Vicky
Ads.
Jenni
I would check PodBean, lower commission and lower required listeners to participate in their ad network.
You can also syndicate the existing podcast widely and automatically (at least for the audio portion, video is available but not as many options) using the RSS feed of whatever podcast platform you choose to go with. One-time setup and importing an RSS feed from your primary hosting to the others is free on 99% of them. While you won’t be able to participate in each of their ad networks, it will drive your overall audience numbers up, which will help.
